Welcome students and parents to Woodhaven High School!

I am proud to be a teacher at WHS and look forward to working with students to help them achieve both their academic and social goals.  I am a firm believer that every child is capable of learning and success - I am here to help them not only realize their true potential but also understand that they are appreciated and valued and that I believe in them.

As I feel it is my role to learn about the students I teach, I feel it is important for you to know a little about me!

My path to teaching was a long and winding one!  I am honored to have served in the U.S. Army and Michigan Army National Guard after high school.  I worked as a production machine operator at Ford Motor Company (Milan Plastics and the old Rouge Factory) before leaving to work for an electrical controls supplier in Novi as a Media Design Specialist.  It was there that I began to explore teaching as I was sent to auto plants across the country to train workers on the systems we installed.  I accepted my first teaching position at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in Wyandotte in 2003 teaching 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade English, Public Speaking, Physical Education, and Yearbook.   From 2006 to 2018, I taught 9th and 10th grade English, Public Speaking, Yearbook/Journalism, and Guided Learning at Cabrini High School in Allen Park.  I also helped coach Varsity Ice Hockey, Varsity Girls Soccer, JV Boys Soccer, and Boys and Girls Varsity Bowling.  My career in Special Education began with a position as an Inclusion Specialist/Co-Teacher at West Middle School in Taylor.  Now I am here at Woodhaven High School and I am truly excited and thankful for the opportunity to work as a Special Education teacher with the  awesome administration, staff, and students.

Educationally, I earned my BA in English and Communication Studies from Mercy College of Detroit in 1994.  I attended the University of Michigan Dearborn and received a ME in Special Education-Learning Disabilities in 2009.  Since I believe you are never done learning, I also attended Madonna University and worked to complete a MS in Educational Leadership in 2013.

My wife Holly and I have been married for 25 years and we have a son, Nathan, who is a sophomore at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.  We also have a rescue dog, a beagle, named Bumblebee!  I love the outdoors and am NOT a fan of the summer months!  In fact, my favorite season of the year is Winter!
