Here are a few Student Health/Wellness Guidelines from our District nurse. To prevent transmission of germs, you may need to keep your student at home if any of these symptoms are present:
Not feeling well – overall tired or listless
Temperature over 100 degrees – should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school
Continuous or severe productive cough – especially when coughing green or yellow phlegm
Runny nose with fever – especially green or yellow mucus
Red eyes with drainage
Vomiting – keep home for 24 hours after last episode
Diarrhea – keep home for 24 hours after last episode
Any known infectious disease, unidentified rash or skin irritation until under treatment
Handwashing is key, especially after coughing or wiping nose
Lice prevention: transmission occurs with head-to-head contact, usually a friend or close relative, or through sharing personal items such as comb/brush, hats, helmets, headphones, scarves, hair accessories, pillow/bedding
